Bouten Gets Lean

bouten

When Bouten Construction began its move from more traditional building methods to what’s called “Lean” construction three years ago, the Spokane company was the among the first in the region. Borrowing from manufacturing processes pioneered by Toyota, the Lean approach aligns the entire construction supply chain – from design all the way to project delivery – by promoting collaboration, eliminating redundancies, and reducing waste. To raise awareness of this fundamental shift (and to promote Bouten’s innovative spirit), helveticka created a series of six print ads, each touting a characteristic specific to Lean construction: integration, efficiency, innovation, teamwork, predictability, and accuracy. Supporting copy chronicled Bouten’s path; photography by J. Craig Sweat and bold spot colors from Bouten’s brand palette featured prominently. The series ran in the Spokane Journal of Business throughout 2014.
