“The Scream” is the source for Kaemmer’s depiction of Edvard Munch (1863–1944). “Not a happy man,” says Kaemmer. “Like everyone else, he had psychological problems. He just happened to paint his.” Oddly, the lack of a distinct background makes Kaemmer’s work more terrifying than the original.
James McNeil Whistler (1834–1903) is best known for his iconic portrait
