Our primary commitment to employees and contractors is to protect
their health and safety. We work to instill the importance of leadership, accountability, and personal involvement with everyone. Safety programming and management systems are reviewed continually and improved to provide the training and tools necessary to prevent accidents, injuries, and occupational illnesses.

SAFETY HIGHLIGHTS
In 2013, Coeur’s Rochester mine reached a signi cant safety milestone by surpassing six years and 1.68 million work hours without an employee Lost Time Injury (LTI). Coeur realized a year-over-year reduction of 69% in Lost Time Injury Frequency Rate (LTIFR) to .23 in 2013, down from .74 in 2012. The Coeur ve-year average LTIFR of .62 was also signi cantly less than the MSHA ve-year average of 1.28. We have taken great strides in our injury reduction strategies, and we strive for continual improvement and complete integration of operational execution through our implementation of integrated management systems.
At Coeur’s San Bartolomé mine, 2013 was dedicated to industrial safety and occupational health, with a focus on implementing health and safety standards and ensuring all contractors comply with our rules and principles. Protecting all of our people is a fundamental principle. We are all responsible for ensuring all workers return from work every day healthy and safe.
